TCU men go to 3-0 on Australian trip with 96-70 rout as Aussie Frog stars
Redshirt freshman guard Kouat Noi scored 20 points to lead the Horned Frogs men to a 96-70 victory over the Melbourne All-Stars on Saturday at Waverley Stadium, just outside of Melbourne.
Noi, a 6-foot-7 native of Australia, hit 7 of 11 shots from the field while playing in front of his father, who lives in Melbourne.
The former Florida prep school standout was one of six TCU players in double figures as the Frogs went to 3-0 on their five-game foreign basketball tour of Australia. Game 4 was scheduled for late Saturday night, Fort Worth time.
Junior forward JD Miller posted a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Senior forward Kenrich Williams had 15 points and nine rebounds. Junior guard Alex Robinson had 13 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Freshman guard RJ Nembhard, from Keller, scored 12 points, and guard Shawn Olden, a junior college transfer, scored 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range.
“We came out early and put it on them pretty good,” Frogs coach Jamie Dixon said, via gofrogs.com. “We might have played too many minutes in stretches during the second half for some guys. I like how we passed it. We did some good things. We played some guys in different positions today. It allowed us to do some things with our versatility.”
TCU led 51-24 at halftime and pushed its lead to 30 points, 56-26, with 8:38 left in the third quarter. The Frogs had their largest lead, 85-45, 12 seconds into the fourth quarter.
