The press box in Amon G. Carter Stadium will be named in honor of legendary author and sportswriter Dan Jenkins, TCU officials announced Tuesday.

Jenkins, a 1953 graduate of TCU, has written for the Fort Worth Press, Dallas Times Herald, Sports Illustrated and Golf Digest, and is the author of 23 books. His latest, “Stick a Fork in Me,” was published in January.

He is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Texas Sports Hall of Fame, National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame, the Texas Golf Hall of Fame and the TCU Lettermen’s Association Hall of Fame.

He has also won the Red Smith Award, the Ring Lardner Award, the PEN/ESPN Award and the lifetime achievement award in journalism from the PGA of America. He was the first writer to receive the Old Tom Morris Award from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.

Jenkins received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1996 and the Frog O’Fame Award in 1971. His family established the Dan Jenkins Sportswriting Scholarship in 1985.
