UTA baseball blasted by Texas State in regular-season finale
Texas State collected 20 hits, including a pair of grand slams, in just six innings Saturday afternoon, and the UT Arlington baseball team dropped its regular-season finale 22-8 at Bobcat Ballpark.
“Obviously, it was an offensive day,” UTA coach Darin Thomas said. “It was hot and windy, and we didn’t do a good job of keeping it in the park.”
The Mavericks (23-30, 14-16 Sun Belt) scored runs in each of the first four innings, but they were outscored by the Bobcats (22-30-1, 14-16) in each of the first five innings of play.
The Mavericks will return to action Wednesday in the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Troy, Ala. Unofficially, seventh-seeded UTA will take on No. 2 Troy.
