Watch: Tractor-trailer takes out traffic signal after sliding down icy East Texas road
A Facebook user in Longview had her cellphone camera rolling as a tractor-trailer slid backward down an icy hill and plowed into a traffic light on Tuesday.
Kristy Boyd said a tractor-trailer was heading uphill on Hawkins Parkway around noon when its wheels began to spin. Seconds later, it began to slowly slide backward toward an approaching vehicle, which backed out of the way while an officer directing traffic scrambled near the sidewalk.
The tractor-trailer continued its descent before slamming into a traffic light and coming to a stop.
Earlier in the day, the Longview Police Department posted on social media advising drivers to stay off area roadways if possible because of the winter weather moving through East and North Texas.
Boyd said the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash.
