Two badly injured in Parker County after RV falls 50 feet from Interstate 20 bridge
Two people were injured when their recreation vehicle fell off a bridge to a river bottom 50 feet below.
The passenger and driver were pried out of the RV by firefighters and taken by air ambulance to a hospital, where they were listed in serious condition by emergency responders.
The wreck occurred shortly before 3:35 p.m. Tuesday on westbound Interstate 20 near the Kings Gate Road exit in Willow Park, said Mike Lenoir, Willow Park fire chief. The RV landed with the passenger side on the ground and trapped the two people who were inside.
Firefighters had to walk down the embankment and use spreading tools to free the two people who were trapped, Lenoir said. Fortunately, the Clear Fork Trinity River was shallow and there was little risk of drowning, Lenoir said.
The crash is being investigated by troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Units from the Parker County Sheriff’s Department, the Aledo Fire Department and the Weatherford Police Department, also assisted in the rescue operation.
