One person killed in plane crash in North Texas; federal authorities investigating
An investigation is underway after a plane crashed near Granbury, killing one.
The name of the victim had not been released as of Monday.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a call about plane wreckage being found shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday just north of Farm Road 4 and west of County Road 2580 near Granbury.
Granbury is about 35 miles southwest of Fort Worth.
Troopers discovered a Beechcraft BE33 and the pilot dead at the scene.
The pilot had filed a flight plan Saturday from Mineral Wells to Granbury, according to KXAS-TV.
Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the cause of the crash.
