$6 million marijuana crop seized in southeast Texas
Marijuana plants with a street value of about $6 million were seized Tuesday in southeast Texas by a task force of more than 30 officers from multiple counties, according to NBCDFW.com.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s office said that a crop of 5,200 marijuana plants was found, from brand new growth to eight-foot plants, near Palestine off County Road 336. The plants are being destroyed by local, state and federal agencies.
Authorities are close to finding a suspect but no arrests have been made, according to the report. Authorities believe the plants are being grown by drug cartels from Mexico.
Two weeks ago, a marijuana crop of about 3,900 plants was also found in Anderson County.
Sheriff’s officers from Anderson, Angelina, San Jacinto and Van Zandt counties are a part of the investigation.
