Ex-Hurst teacher gets 15 years for having sex with students
An ex-Hurst Junior High math teacher is headed to prison for 15 years for having sex with his students last year.
Timothy Flasik, 28, of Missouri City, was sentenced Oct. 9 in Criminal District Court No. 297 after completion of a pre-sentence investigation. He had pleaded guilty in July to six charges related to the case.
Flasik was sentenced to 15 years each on three charges of sexual performance of a child, two charges of sexual assault of a child under 17 years old and one charge of delivery of a controlled substance (marijuana) to a minor. The sentences will be served concurrently.
The ex-math teacher will have to serve at least half of his sentence before he is eligible for parole, Tarrant County Assistant District Attorney Dale Smith said Monday.
Flasik, who resigned from the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district at the end of the 2013-14 school year, must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to Tarrant County court records.
He lived at a Bedford apartment when he was a math teacher and then moved to Dallas after he resigned, officials said. He was living in Missouri City when he was sentenced, according to court records.
Flasik was arrested Aug. 7, 2014, at the Dallas apartment where he lived at 4849 Frankford Road. He was working at Plano West High School at the time.
He posted $20,000 bond shortly after his arrest and was freed from jail. He was taken into custody on Oct. 9 when he was sentenced and he remained in the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth on Monday.
Flasik had kept a relationship going with two of his students at the same time for about 10 months, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram.
The affidavit says Flasik provided alcohol and marijuana to one 15-year-old he had sex with, and also had a threesome with both girls after one of them turned 16.
The encounters took place at an apartment where Flasik lived at the time in the 2800 block of Village Circle in Bedford, said Bedford police.
Hurst and Bedford police began an investigation into the case in July 2014.
A student accompanied by her mother contacted Hurst police July 29, 2014, about an ongoing sexual relationship between Flasik and a friend of the student’s.
During the interview, Hurst police learned that a second student was involved with Flasik and that all the meetings occurred at his apartment in Bedford. Hurst police then alerted Bedford detectives, who continued the investigation.
A girl told police in an Aug. 4, 2014, interview that Flasik had been her ninth-grade algebra teacher and that they first started talking on Facebook.
She said Flasik drove her to his Bedford apartment and they had sex more than 20 times, including the threesome.
The second student told officials she first had sex with Flasik when she was 15.
Flasik was hired by the HEB district in January 2012 as a teacher at Hurst Junior High School and remained there until he resigned June 3, 2014, according to school records. He had notified school officials on April 15, 2014, that he would resign at the end of the school year. He went to work in the Plano district after he resigned but before he was charged.
