Small plane crashes in Denton County while performing stunts
A small plane crashed in Denton County on Saturday night.
The single-engine plane crashed in a field near Sanger in the western part of Denton County near the Wise County line at about 7:25 p.m. while performing aerobatics.
The pilot was flown to Baylor Medical Center in Grapevine by a private helicopter that was used to film the aerobatics, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford said via email.
Sgt. Lonny Haschel with the Texas Department of Public Safety said the pilot sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities were investigating the cause of the crash, in the middle of a pasture near Atcheson and Wade roads. The plane caught fire and started a small grass fire. Only the plane’s frame remained, Haschel said.
The Slidell and Sanger fire departments responded to the crash.
The pilot was not identified.
