2 people drown in weekend swimming pool, lake accidents in North Texas

Two people died over the weekend in separate lake and pool accidents in North Texas, according to authorities.

One accident occurred in an Arlington pool on Saturday and the other accident happened Sunday at Grapevine Lake.

Merritt Anderson, 63, was pronounced dead at 6:04 pm. Saturday at an Arlington hospital, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Monday. Anderson died from drowning and the death was ruled an accident.

The incident occurred at her swimming pool in west Arlington.

The body of a 36-year-old DeSoto man was recovered Sunday afternoon after he went missing in Grapevine Lake.

Stanley Walker, 36, was swimming at the lake near Murrell Park in Flower Mound about 3:30 p.m. Sunday when he went under and did not resurface, according to KXAS-TV.

Search crews later recovered Walker’s body.
