Trophy Club showcases new Town Hall, police department

After months of watching construction of the new Trophy Club Town Hall and police department building, town officials got their first chance to show case it to residents at a Nov. 18 dedication.

"It is dedicated to the people of Trophy Club,” Mayor Nick Sanders said. “The new facility is one in which we are all proud. As a result of over a year of planning and research for the ideal land purchase, it stands as the first building the town has owned."

The building at 1 Trophy Wood Drive includes 9,500 square feet for the Town Hall, 11,200 square feet for the Police Department, and 3,300 square feet for the council chamber, rotunda and common spaces. The public spaces and lobby, town hall and police department also share mechanical, electrical and server/IT room, as well as an employee break room.

A large conference room, council chambers, and multiuse community room are all designed for public use. The community room also will function as a training room, voting center, and emergency operations center.

The building's facade features brick veneer highlighted with cast stone and metal accents sourced from the region. The interior and exterior lighting are energy efficient and 100 percent LED. A clerestory window separating the council chambers from the lobby allows natural light into the room from the rotunda.

Sanders said the project was completed under budget with a total cost was $9.6 million. Most of the money (over $8.9 million) came from bond proceeds in 2014 and 2016, with an additional $631,389 from supplemental funding.

The 5.56 acres of land for the facility was bought in May 2015 with bond proceeds of just over $1.3 million.
