Saginaw animal control investigates pit bull attack

Animal control officers are investigating a dog attack that sent an 11-year-old to the hospital with bites on his face and arms, a police spokesman said Thursday.

The boy was riding his bike about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Opal Street when a dog, reportedly a pit bull, escaped from a neighbor’s back yard and attacked the boy, said Sgt. Damon Ing, a Saginaw police spokesman.

The boy was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Ing said. His condition could not be learned Thursday.

Officers gave the dog’s owner a “dog-at-large” citation, Ing said.

Animal control workers seized the dog and that office will decide if additional charges are warranted, Ing said.

No one from Saginaw animal control could be reached to comment Thursday evening.
