Favorable matchups for district openers

The Southlake Carroll, Grapevine and Colleyville Heritage football teams are done with the bye week and open district play Thursday and Friday. Grapevine (3-0) goes first Thursday with its District 8-5A beginner against Fort Worth Poly. Colleyville Heritage (1-2) meets Fort Worth Dunbar on Friday. Carroll (2-1) starts 5-6A play Friday at Flower Mound.

Lady Dragons look for momentum from win over state champ

For Southlake Carroll volleyball coach Ryan Mitchell, this week is about avoiding a flat spot. The Lady Dragons won an emotionally draining five-game match at Lewisville Hebron this past Friday. It’s been two years since this program has gone through something like this, when it lost a pair of district matches to Colleyville Heritage.

Bye week a chance to heal, adjust for area teams

The Southlake Carroll, Grapevine and Colleyville Heritage football teams take their breathers this week, as each is on a bye week. This is the week where teams can relax a little bit on the intensity of their practices but still find a way to continue repetitions for what they want to accomplish. Grapevine comes into the break at 3-0. Carroll is 2-1. Colleyville Heritage is 1-2.
