Teams gearing up for big Northwest tourney

The best part about the first week of the high school volleyball season is that it’s over. Southlake Carroll, Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine head to the NISD Volleyball Classic this week for a competition that is becoming one of North Texas’ most popular volleyball events.

Mustangs’ schedule balanced but full of challenges

In its third year of its ascension, Grapevine’s football program has put together a schedule that should be challenging, yet balanced. Randy Jackson’s program went 8-3 in 2015. Whether or not the Mustangs will equal, surpass or fall a little short of that record in 2016 may not matter.

Mustangs set to prove they’ve turned the corner

Two years ago, it was all head coach Randy Jackson could do to walk down the halls at Grapevine High School and convince young men to come out, take in a practice and be a part of the turnaround with his football program. Now, the Mustangs are coming off an eight-win 2015 season and have been to the playoffs in Jackson’s first two years. The expectations for 2016 may be as high as they have been since 1998.
