Irving truck fire closes two lanes of traffic on 183 for morning commute

Two lanes of Texas 183 were closed early Friday due to an 18-wheeler fire.

Officials are still trying to determine how the fire started. No injuries were reported, police said.

Officers were called about 6:30 a.m. to investigate the truck fire that occurred in the express lane of traffic of Texas 183 near the Story Road exit in Irving, according to police.

Employees with the Texas Department of Transportation worked later Friday morning to clean up debris from the fire and divert traffic, police said. Two lanes of the freeway were closed during an investigation into what caused the fire.

State workers were attempting to repair any damage to the roadway and re-open the express traffic lane by the afternoon rush hour commute. The other lane of eastbound Texas 183 was open by lunchtime.
