Orlando Scandrick will miss rest of preseason with groin strain
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick's triumphant return from year-long knee rehab has been set back by a groin strain that will keep him out of Thursday's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.
With the starters sitting on the preseason final against the Houston Texans on Sept. 1, Scandrick won't be back on the field until the Sept. 11 season opener against the New York Giants.
"My thing is to get back on the practice field and compete as fast as possible," Scandrick said. "At the same time I don’t want to hurt myself more. I want to be out there more than anybody. I worked so hard to get back. This is frustrating. The bright side is my knee feels great. I just need to get through this little hiccup and I will be fine.
“In a perfect world, I would love to be back on the practice field Saturday. I think I will definitely be ready week one barring something happening that is out of my control."
Scandrick’s groin issue comes almost a year to the day when he tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligament in his right knee on Aug. 25 of last year forcing him to miss the 2015 season.
"I want to express my frustrations that I can't be out there every day," Scandrick said. "I want to be out there as bad as anybody. And I want to win. And winning is the priority. And being on the field and being available. This has just been a frustrating year for me.
I feel like today is getting close to the year mark. This is the first little bit of a setback that I have had. But I'm not worried."
