Emmitt Smith is on the run with TV special, Salvation Army luncheon
NFL great Emmitt Smith is a busy man.
The Hall of Famer and former Dallas Cowboys running back will join his wife, Pat, on the Oprah Winfrey Network premiere of “Mrs. & Mr. Smith” on Saturday and he’ll be the keynote speaker at the Salvation Army luncheon on April 12 at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel.
The one-hour special on OWN at 9 p.m. will follow the lives of the Smiths. For Pat Smith, being married to an NFL legend comes with countless commitments, demands and excitement.
Emmitt Smith, the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, also serves as chairman of the advisory council for the Youth Education Town at the Salvation Army in Arlington, a learning center for disadvantaged children.
Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the Salvation Army in Fort Worth, which provides meals, shelter, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, after-school care and many other services.
TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte is the honorary chairman for the luncheon.
