Dallas Cowboys

What did DeMarcus Lawrence say about the Cowboys after winning the Super Bowl?

DeMarcus Lawrence won his first Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks, beating the New England Patriots 29-13, in his first season playing for a team other than the Dallas Cowboys.

In the Super Bowl, Lawrence’s defense dominated the Patriots’ offense and the defensive lineman finished the game with two tackles, a pass defended and a QB hit.

What did Lawrence say when asked about his comments about never winning a Super Bowl with the Cowboys once he had finally won one?

“Y’all have to understand that this moment is about me and me alone. I appreciate all my fans that supported me through it all. But at the end of the day, players win championships,” said Lawrence, “Not logos. So don’t never get it twisted, we here for a reason, we earned this, and shoutout to all my guys in this locker room.”

When asked why specifically he said the Cowboys couldn’t win the Super Bowl, Lawrence refused to answer, saying he wanted to focus on celebrating with his guys and leave the past in the past, saying it was now beneath him as a Super Bowl champion.

Now that he’s a Super Bowl champion Lawrence’s comments on leaving the Cowboys to win his first title will live on in Seahawks and Cowboys lore.
