Dallas Cowboys finalize 53-man roster with surprise trade and 32 cuts
On Tuesday afternoon, the Dallas Cowboys finalized their 53-man roster heading into the 2025 season by making 35 cuts, two moves to the injured reserve and a surprise trade with the New Orleans Saints.
The day began with the Cowboys placing two players on the injured reserve/designated to return list: wide receiver Jonathan Mingo (knee) and defensive end Payton Turner (ribs). As a result, neither player counts toward the 53-man roster, but both will have to miss at least four games to begin the season.
Next, the Cowboys traded offensive lineman Asim Richards and a 2028 seventh-round pick to the Saints for a 2028 sixth-round pick.
