Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones makes ‘mother-dad’ analogy about Micah Parsons

Tension continues to mount between the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons after team owner Jerry Jones sat down for an interview with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and discussed the ongoing contract dispute while the pass rusher took to social media to make his own statements.

Jones explained to Smith why he was wary of dealing with David Mulugheta, who is Parsons’ agent, using an analogy.

“In the spirit of not doing the old mother-dad deal,” Jones said, “how many times have you seen the little rascal so clever go in there and momma told him, ‘Nuh-uh, you not going to get it,’ and goes in to daddy, who only sees him after five in the afternoon, wants to love him, and says, ‘You can have it, son. You can have that before dinner.’ And he goes back in and says, ‘Momma, Daddy said I can have it.’

“Been around since the beginning of time, I’m not going to go for that [expletive] here. That’s what’s happening. I’m not going for it. No, no. We’ve had a very, very strong negotiation.”

Jones went on to point out that the only two people truly needed to make the deal happen are him and Parsons, and that there wasn't room for a third party.

Jones, while talking with former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin, also said that he offered Parsons a deal that would’ve given him more guaranteed money than any defensive player in league history.

Parsons, who already requested a trade, scrubbed the Dallas Cowboys from his social media profiles on X and Instagram.

The Cowboys open the regular season at Philadelphia on Sept. 4.
