Cowboys owner Jerry Jones talks Micah Parsons’ contract dispute on Fox News
Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys are embroiled in a contract dispute, and team owner Jerry Jones went on Fox News and discussed the situation.
Jones answered how close he was to signing Parsons.
“Micah’s a great player, not a good player, but a great player,” Jones said. “He knows more than anyone that it’s a team thing, and so I know everybody’s tired of hearing this, but you gotta put this puzzle together so that you can have some other people out there playing with Micah. That’s the art of the deal.”
Despite Jones’ comments, it’s widely believed that when Parsons signs his contract, he’ll become the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL, surpassing the mark set by Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher TJ Watt when he signed his three-year, $123 million deal.
Parsons is sitting out practice during his “hold-in,” but head coach Brian Schottenheimer said he expects the Penn State product to be on the field when the Cowboys begin their season against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 4.
