WATCH: Denzel Washington tells Jerry Jones, ‘all money ain’t good money’
Denzel Washington had a message for Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones regarding the state of the franchise during an appearance promoting his new movie “Highest 2 Lowest” alongside acclaimed director Spike Lee.
“There’s box office and there’s Oscars. Jerry, been awhile, huh? Ain’t been to the show, you wouldn’t know ... what it is to win,” Washington said on ESPN’s “First Take.” “I love the Cowboys, cause I really love them. This is why I feel the way I feel. ... All money ain’t good money, Jerry.”
Jones, who was recently at the premiere of the upcoming Netflix documentary about his tenure as Cowboys owner, has come under criticism for his dealings with key players over the past couple of seasons, including his contract negotiations with Micah Parsons, which have been roundly criticized for ostracizing the star edge rusher.
The critiques have only intensified with each year that passes since the team’s last Super Bowl victory in 1996, with Jones calling the drought unacceptable at the NFL owners meeting earlier this year.
Washington, 70, has won two Oscars and has been nominated seven other times in his storied acting career.
