Five things to know about Dallas Cowboys’ sixth-round NFL Draft pick Ajani Cornelius

The Dallas Cowboys drafted another offensive lineman when they selected Ajani Cornelius with the No. 204 selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Cornelius is the third offensive player and second lineman selected in this year’s draft by the Cowboys.

Here’s what to know about the Oregon product taken in the sixth round.

Commitment to excellence

Attending Archbishop Stepinac in White Plains, N.Y., growing up, Cornelius had to travel an hour-and-a half every morning, riding two buses and two trains. He was going to the school in part because of the quality of football there.

Transferred to Oregon

Cornelius started his college career at Rhode Island for three seasons before transferring to Oregon for his last two seasons.

What linemen does he look up to?

Cornelius cited Laremy Tunsil, Lane Johnson and Penei Sewell, among others, when asked which offensive linemen he liked to watch at the NFL Combine.

Toughest matchup?

Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter was the third overall pick (New York Giants) in this year’s NFL Draft and the player Cornelius said was one of the toughest guards for him in college.

Most influential person

Cornelius said his high school coach, Ronald Gunther, was the most influential figure in his life and that Gunther inspires him every day to keep going.
