Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones makes statement on retirement of Jimmy Johnson

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones put out a statement congratulating Jimmy Johnson on his career after the former Dallas Cowboys and Miami Hurricanes head coach announced his retirement from Fox NFL Sunday.

“From the time we were in college until the time we were holding up those Super Bowl trophies, I knew Jimmy Johnson could be anything he wanted to be, and he has,” said Jones, “Jimmy has blazed a remarkable, unique trail that is now deeply embedded into football and broadcasting history.”

On Monday, Johnson made his retirement announcement on “The Herd,” with Colin Cowherd calling the job the most fun he’d had in his career.

Johnson, an original member of the popular NFL pregame show, called the decision to retire extremely difficult and said he would miss the rest of the FOX NFL Sunday family.
