Michael Irvin responds to Terrell Owens saying he’s better of the two receiver legends
Michael Irvin fired back at Terrell Owens for comments the former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver made on the “It Is What It Is,’ podcast hosted by Cam’ron and Mase.
Owens was on the podcast when he was asked how much better he was than Irvin and said there was a big gap between the two.
“It is [a gap between us], I mean statically yes. Does he have more Super Bowl rings than me, yeah I mean that’s a given, but he has a total of like 65 touchdowns ... tremendous athlete was part of a great dynasty of a team,” said Owens. “It’s a gap in there ... just roll the tape.”
Irvin had 65 career receiving touchdowns, five Pro Bowls, an All-Pro team selection and three Super Bowl championships over a 12-year career.
Owens played 15 seasons in the NFL amassing 153 career receiving touchdowns, six Pro Bowls and five All-Pro selections.
Irvin responded to Owens on X, formerly Twitter, wearing three WWE-style championships to represent his three Super Bowl wins with the Cowboys.
“All you jokers that didn’t win these, these things are heavy and check it out, this just my Dallas Cowboys stuff don’t make me get my Miami and my St Thomas stuff,” said Irvin, “That’s why I’m probably at the bottom. All this [expletive} is heavy.”
Owens did make a post on X after his appearance on the show clearing up a misconception that he said Irvin was in a lower tier of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but didn’t walk back his comments about the gap between them.
