Dallas Cowboys executive explains how quarterback Dak Prescott saved his life

Dak Prescott created the Faith Fight Finish Foundation to promote early cancer screenings that helped save Dallas Cowboys Senior VP of Communications Tad Carper’s life.

The Cowboys shared the story on X, formerly Twitter, as part of the NFL’s My Cause My Cleat initiative which showcases charities supported by players.

Prescott provided screening for members of the Cowboys organization which is how Carper found out he had cancer despite having no symptoms.

“Had the incredible opportunity that Dak and his foundation presented at the end of training camp and invited me in to take the test, relatively new test for 50 different kinds of cancer signals,” said Carper, “About two and half weeks later, got a call from a doctor at Ochsner saying they had gotten a signal back for head or neck cancer.”

The Faith Fight Finish Foundation focuses on cancer research and screenings, improving the relationship between police and the community and suicide prevention among other causes.

Prescott, who will be sidelined for the rest of the season while recovering from hamstring surgery, revealed his cleats, which were made in conjunction with Baylor Scott and White.

The shoes are All-white Air Force Ones which appear plain but glow under a dark light with green and orange coloring and include the message ‘see the unseen and then you can fight it,’ on the shoes.

Prescott said he was humbled by the help provided by his foundation.

“My mom told me ‘All the greats have a story, allow me to be your story,’ everything I do is to be a symbolization or a picture, an image of my mom and her story and this is the epitome of that,” said Prescott.

Prescott started the foundation in honor of his mother who died from Colon cancer in 2013.
