Stephen A. Smith criticizes Dak Prescott for comments defending Mike McCarthy

Stephen A. Smith was on ESPN’s “First Take” on Wednesday and responded to Dak Prescott’s comments about head coach Mike McCarthy’s future with the Dallas Cowboys.

Prescott sat down with Yahoo’s Jori Epstein, and explained why he supported McCarthy remaining on as head coach after his contract expires after the season.

“I believe in him wholeheartedly,” said Prescott, “I don’t want to necessarily get into the nuts and the screws of it all obviously, but I think he definitely deserves a chance — another contract and a chance to coach this team amongst more influence. ‘On his terms’ may be a good way to say it.

Smith responded by saying if Prescott felt this way he should’ve won more playoff games during McCarthy’s Cowboys tenure.

“I will tell you what I feel. I could give less than a [expletive] about what Dak Prescott had to say about [Mike McCarthy]. Why didn’t you go out there and win for him,” said Smith, “You’ve been the star quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys for nine years, you have two playoff victories to show for it. Why do I care?” said Smith.

Smith acknowledged that Prescott is sidelined for the remainder of the season but said he’s had the opportunity to silence critics but has failed to do so, while also stating that he does believe McCarthy is a good coach.
