Dallas Cowboys sign quarterback Dak Prescott to richest contract in NFL history

The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott have agreed to terms on a four-year, $240-million contract that makes the Mississippi State product the highest-paid player in the history of the NFL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The contract includes $231 million guaranteed and averages $60 million per year.

At the beginning of the offseason, the Cowboys were criticized for their lack of free agent signings and for failing to extend franchise cornerstones CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons and Prescott.

Dallas has now signed Lamb and Prescott to massive new contracts that will keep them on America’s team for the considerable future.

Lamb’s deal was for four years $136 million making him the second highest-paid non-quarterback in the league.

Prescott is coming off the most successful season of his NFL career which saw him throw for 4,516 yards with 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions. For his efforts, the Cowboys quarterback earned an NFL All-Pro Second Team selection, a Pro Bowl nod and was second place in AP NFL MVP voting.

The Cowboys open their season at 3:25 on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
