Dallas Cowboys star cornerback to miss start of season with foot injury
The Dallas Cowboys’ defensive backfield will miss a key player when the season begins on Sept. 8 in Cleveland.
Prior to Saturday’s preseason finale against the Los Angels Chargers, the Cowboys announced that cornerback DaRon Bland has a stress fracture in his foot.
According to the team who said the injury was noticed after the cornerback had discomfort in his foot during training camp in Oxnard, Calif., on Wednesday. Bland is expected to miss six-eight weeks.
Bland is coming off the best season of his NFL career with 69 tackles, nine interceptions and returned five for touchdowns, setting an NFL record.
For his efforts, Bland was a First Team NFL All-Pro selection as well as earning a Pro Bowl nod.
The Cowboys drafted Bland with the 167th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Fresno State.
It’s the second major injury during training camp. Defensive lineman Sam Williams injured his left knee during thefirst week of camp.
