Dallas Cowboys record-setter CeeDee Lamb wants to win Super Bowl, then get paid as top WR

It seems all folly now that not long ago people were questioning CeeDee Lamb’s status as a No. 1 receiver and Lamb was wondering why he wasn’t being targeted enough by the Dallas Cowboys.

But that was then.

That was before Lamb set franchise records for catches and yards in a season of 122 and 1,651, culminating with career-high 13 catches for a career-high 227 yards in last Sunday’s 20-19 victory against the Detroit Lions.

Now, that Lamb has proven himself as a top receiver in the league, he has two goals in mind.

He wants to help the Cowboys win the Super Bowl and become the highest-paid receiver in the NFL.

While the Cowboys have already picked up the fifth-year option on Lamb’s rookie contract for 2024 at a price tag of $17.9 million, he is eligible for a new deal now.

Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins and Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders are currently the league’s top paid receivers with deals worth $30 million and $28 million annually.

“Ideally, for sure, at the of it all,” Lamb said when asked about being paid at the top of his position. “Once again, I’ve got a goal in mind and that’s to get a ring. At the end of that, then we’ll start talking about everything else. I’m going to focus on this then we’ll get on that.”

Lamb admitted his goal coming into the 2023 season was to establish himself as an elite receiver.

Regarding the early questions about his status, he says “it wasn’t my time then, it’s my time now.”

Lamb has certainly left no doubt in a record-breaking campaign that has surpassed all others in the history of the Cowboys.

“Most definitely. I’m definitely one of the elite receivers in this game,” Lamb said. “I worked my tail off to be that and to say that confidently. Having that ability. It’s good to be elite, but how consistent. How long can you be elite is the next challenge. I’m looking forward to it. Can’t wait.”

The primary focus now is to help the Cowboys get to the Super Bowl and win it for the first time since 1995.

That was the beauty and the lesson in record-setting moment against the Lions with Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, the previous record holder in the attendance.

Irvin has three Super Bowl titles on his resume. He offered congratulations while resetting Lamb’s priorities.

“Obviously, congratulations,” Lamb said of Irvin’s message. “It was a big moment for me, of course. And then, just keep battling, keep going. Now it’s time to go chase the ring was basically the end message. I’m with that. That’s always been my end goal and still is.”
