NFL Twitter account bows to Dallas Cowboys’ Trevon Diggs and historic interception run
Trevon Diggs is on a roll seldom seen in NFL history.
And the league is taking notice.
The Dallas Cowboys cornerback intercepted his seventh pass in six games in Sunday’s 35-29 overtime win over the New England Patriots.
Diggs intercepted a deflected pass off the hands of Patriots receiver Kendrick Bourne and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown to give the Cowboys a 26-21 lead.
Monday morning, the NFL’s official Twitter account featured an image of Diggs on its home page and the league’s bio simply read, hilariously, “Trevon Diggs intercepted our bio.”
Diggs tied an NFL record with at least one interception in his team’s first six games of a season, joining Tom Landry (1951), Barry Wilburn (1987), and Brian Russell (2003). He’s the first player in Cowboys history to intercept a pass in the team’s first six games.
He’s also the first player to have at least seven interceptions with multiple pick-sixes in a season’s first six games.
