‘Let’s make another run at it!’ Drew Brees announces his return to Saints for 20th season
Drew Brees, who turned 41 on January 15, wants a shot at another Super Bowl title.
The NFL’s all-time leading passer will return for his 20th NFL season.
The Austin native announced the decision in a post on Instagram Tuesday morning. Along with his message is a beautiful image of Brees standing atop a mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean on Hawaii’s Kauai island.
“My feelings about the 2020 season! I look forward to the grind and the journey, for the reward at the end will be worth it!!!” Brees said. “Love you #WhoDatNation. Let’s make another run at it!”
Brees has played the past 14 seasons with the New Orleans Saints. He’s the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards with 77,416, completions with 6,867, and passing touchdowns with 547. Free agent Tom Brady, who has been with the New England Patriots sine he entered the league in 2000, is in second in all three categories.
Brees led the Saints to the Super Bowl after the 2009 season.
His 74.3% completion rate in 2019 is second only to his 74.4% rate in 2018 for best in NFL history. He missed five games after breaking his throwing hand but still threw for 27 touchdowns against only four interceptions as he earned his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl selection and 13th of his career.
