Dallas Cowboys guard Zack Martin has withdrawn from Pro Bowl due to minor ankle surgery
Dallas Cowboys guard Zack Martin underwent a minor cleanup surgery on his ankle Tuesday and has withdrawn from the 2020 Pro Bowl.
The Saints announced Wednesday that guard Larry Warford has been tabbed as Martin’s injury replacement in the Jan. 26 Pro Bowl in Orlando.
Martin underwent arthroscopic surgery and should be back for the start of the off-season program April 6.
For the fifth time in six years, Martin started all 16 games in 2019 despite ankle, elbow and back injuries that limited his practice.
Martin is a six-time Pro Bowl pick, tied with John Niland and Nate Newton for the second-most appearances by a Cowboys guard behind Larry Allen’s nine. He was also named first-team All-Pro in 2019 for the fourth time in six years.
The Cowboys will have just five players at the Pro Bowl: tackle Tyron Smith, center Travis Frederick, running back Ezekiel Elliott, receiver Amari Cooper and linebacker Jaylon Smith.
If the Green Bay Packers reach the Super Bowl there is a good chance Dak Prescott will be added as a replacement for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
