Tony Romo’s National Fantasy Football Convention is now SportsCon, moving back to Dallas

The National Fantasy Football Convention, famously founded by former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and initially shut down the first two years by the NFL, is changing its name and has a new game.

It is now SportsCon, billing itself as the Comic-Con for sports, and will focus more than football when it convenes July 12-14 at Fair Park in Dallas.

The NFFC held its first convention in Dallas in 2017 before moving to Fort Worth last year.

SportsCon has added Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon to its list of owners that include Romo and Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.

“After listening to fans, attendees, players, and sponsors, it was clear that everyone wanted more. They wanted more sports, more players, more companies and even more access. We really had no choice but to expand in a major way,” SportsCon CEO Andy Alberth said in a press release. “We’re humbled by our past successes and we’re motivated to provide fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up-close and personal with their favorite athletes from all sports.

“There is no doubt that we were inspired by the success of Comic-Con and we wanted to create something similar for sports fans of the world, instead of meeting your favorite superheroes, you get to meet your favorite sports heroes.”

In addition to bringing together more than 150 professional athletes, SportsCon will also feature two football fields, basketball hoops, putting greens, batting cages, boxing & wrestling ring, the Taste of Texas, an eSports lounge and many more interactive exhibits. Athletes scheduled to attend include Elliott, Gordon, Todd Gurley, Randy Couture, and Delino DeShields.

Other names will be announced in the coming weeks.

Tickets for the Convention are now available at www.gosportscon.com.
