Mark Sanchez is now a member of the Washington Redskins.

On Thursday, reports revealed that the ex-Dallas Cowboys quarterback would serve as a backup to newly promoted starter Colt McCoy.

On Sunday, the ex-Texas Longhorns star was pressed into that role after Alex Smith suffered a gruesome ankle injury. The Redskins lost to the Houston Texans, 23-21.

Smith will miss the remainder of this season.

The game on Thanksgiving has massive NFC East ramifications in the standings.

It will also be a little bit of a mini-homecoming for Sanchez.

The veteran quarterback once served as a backup to Tony Romo and Dak Prescott in Dallas.

Sanchez enjoyed a promising start to his NFL career before burning out with the New York Jets. He then became a journeyman backup.

Sanchez has not seen NFL game action since 2016 and will likely remain behind McCoy on the depth chart.
