The NFC East playoff picture might’ve just taken a major turn.

And that turn could benefit the Cowboys.

Entering Sunday, Dallas occupied second place in the division alongside the Philadelphia Eagles. Both teams have a 4-5.

The Redskins were 6-3 until Sunday and held first place.

But when Washington hosted the Houston Texans, quarterback Alex Smith suffered a gruesome leg injury that required him to be taken off the field in a cart.

Former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann likened the injury to the one he suffered several decades ago.
