Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Dallas Cowboys great Troy Aikman will lead the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ 93rd annual fundraising campaign.

And he’s adding a special twist on raising resources.

Aikman has named United Way the beneficiary of the “25th Anniversary of the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Champions.”

The event, organized by Aikman to honor teammates and coaches from Super Bowls XXVII, XXVIII and XXX, will be held Saturday at Gilley’s Dallas. The evening will include a special celebration honoring Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who was recently elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The 2017-18 United Way campaign officially begins July 1.

The campaign will raise resources to improve education, financial stability and health across North Texas communities.

Aikman’s history with United Way stretches back to his playing days when he was part of the nonprofit’s national partnership with the NFL.
