Newly-signed DE Ryan Davis becomes Cowboys’ most proven pass rusher

The Dallas Cowboys finally have a pass rusher with double-digit career sacks.

The team signed Ryan Davis on Tuesday, a four-year veteran who has spent his entire career with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Davis has 11 career sacks, including 6 1/2 in 2014 and 3 1/2 last season. He was released by the Jaguars earlier this month.

Davis, 27, entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Bethune-Cookman in 2012. He has played in 38 career games, but has yet to make a start.

The Cowboys remain a team desperate for pass rush help. Dallas only had 28 sacks in 2014 and 31 last season.

All of the pass rushers entering the season didn’t have double-digit sacks in their career. The most proven pass rusher was third-year pro DeMarcus Lawrence with eight. But Lawrence is serving a four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.

The Cowboys had two sacks against the New York Giants in their 20-19 loss.
