Dallas Cowboys swing tackle Chaz Green admitted being a little “amped up” more than normal during his pregame routine on Sunday.

It’s hard to blame him, considering he was set to make his NFL debut. And Green got more action than expected, playing six snaps on special teams and another five snaps on offense when Tyron Smith exited briefly with a neck injury.

“It was great,” Green said. “It was everything that was expected. I had fun out there. This is definitely what I enjoy doing.”

Green, a 2015 third-round pick out of Florida, missed most of last season after undergoing hip surgery in the offseason. He returned to practice the final five weeks, but was inactive on game days.

“I was definitely amped up before the game,” Green said. “It was more the warm-ups. Once the ball is snapped, you’ve got to lock in on the task at hand.”

Green credited veteran interior lineman Joe Looney with helping him mentally prepare for the swing tackle role. It’s a challenging spot to come off the bench on a moment’s notice, and Green handled the situation well when Smith exited.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Green said. “I don’t want anyone to go down, but I’m champing at the bit. I want to get out there and play.”
