76ers rookie VJ Edgeocombe explains his relationhsip with Mavs’ Cooper Flagg

Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe was on the “Podcast P” show and explained his on-court rivalry and off-court friendship with Dallas Mavericks top draft pick Cooper Flagg.

Edgecombe and Flagg had a viral video on social media from their high school days, in which the Maine native trash-talked and told Edgecombe, “You not like that.”

Edgecombe broke down their relationship saying the pair are friends off the court.

“It’s a friendly rivalry, off the court we’re close,” said Edgecombe, “We know on the court we’re competing. People thought he said it because, oh, he thinks I’m bad or something like that, nah, I had stepped over him. He was on the floor, he had like the last shot of the third quarter, I’m walking to my bench, I see him on the floor and I just walked over him...at the end of the day it’s all love between me and Coop.”

Edgecombe and Flagg had another moment when Baylor played Duke during March Madness and the pair shared an exchange at the free throw line that the Bahamian native said was all jokes and smiles.

The pair both have lofty expectations for their rookie seasons, with MGM giving Flagg the top odds for NBA Rookie of the Year and Edgecombe the third-best odds for the award.
