Report: Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis could be done for the season

The Dallas Mavericks will reevaluate several injured players including Daniel Gafford, Derek Lively II and Anthony Davis on Thursday.

The Mavs recently lost Kyrie Irving for the season, and the team needs reinforcements if they want to remain in playoff contention. The Mavs have a 32-30 record and are in 10th place in the Western Conference, occupying the last spot in the play-in.

However, on Tuesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania, on The Pat McAfee Show, reported that Davis might not play another game for the Mavs this season.

“Anthony Davis has been out since his opener, since the first game he played. I think him, his representatives, I think they’re gonna huddle up. I think they’re gonna have some very hard conversations. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that one game was the last time we’ve seen Anthony Davis this season”

Davis who is sidelined with an adductor strain has had an extensive injury history in the NBA and with the Mavs season already decimated by injury could instead focus on getting fully healthy with the team’s low title contention hopes.

According to ESPN’s Power Index, the Mavs have a 13.5% chance to make the playoffs this season.
