Dallas Mavericks star sidelined with a bulging disk in his back

According to reports, The Dallas Mavericks (20-15) will be without guard Kyrie Irving for one to two weeks as the star point guard recovers from a bulging disk in his back.

It is not clear when Irving suffered the injury or whether it occurred during a game and there is no target date for his return as of yet.

The injury comes as the Mavs are already trying to compensate for the loss of superstar Luka Doncic who has been sidelined by a calf strain he acquired during the team’s Christmas Day loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Doncic will be sidelined for a month before being re-evaluated.

Since Doncic’s injury, the Mavs have a 1-4 record with three of the four losses coming by double digits.

The Mavs sit in sixth place in the Western Conference and will try to avoid falling into the play-in while missing Doncic and Irving due to injury.
