Mavericks’ Luka Doncic makes history again as youngest All-Star starter in 15 years
Luka Doncic just made more history.
The Dallas Mavericks second-year guard will start for the Western Conference in the All-Star Game Feb. 16 in Chicago.
Doncic, who turns 21 two weeks after the game, is the youngest player to start an All-Star Game since LeBron James in 2005. He’s also the youngest European-born player to start an All-Star Game.
Doncic is the third Mavericks’ player to start in the game, following Dirk Nowitzki in 2007 and 2010 and Jason Kidd in 1996. Doncic is the second Dallas player to be voted in as a starter. Kidd also was voted in. Doncic will be the 31st All-Star in franchise history.
He’ll be the ninth-youngest player to appear in the game and the sixth-youngest to start. James was 20 years and 52 days old in ‘05. Doncic will be 20 and 353 days.
Doncic will start for the West along with Los Angeles Lakers Anthony Davis and James, Houston Rockets’ guard James Harden and Los Angeles Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard. The Eastern Conference starters are Milwaukee Bucks’ forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, Boston Celtics’ Kemba Walker, Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young, Philadelphia 76ers Joel Embiid and Toronto Wizards’ Pascal Siakam.
