Luka might not be LeBron, but Lakers’ coach Frank Vogel says that isn’t the point

Is Luka Doncic the next LeBron James?

Okay, that’s really not fair to Doncic or James.

James, whose Los Angeles Lakers take on Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks Friday night at American Airlines Center, has a career full of NBA accomplishments at age 35 that few players in the history of the game can match.

“I don’t think there’s anyone quite like LeBron,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said. “but I don’t think Luka is trying to be like LeBron. He’s trying to be Luka and he’s doing one hell of a job being great at that.”

It is more fair and appropriate to compare what both players did in their first couple of seasons in the game. In that regard, Doncic absolutely compares to James.

“It’s remarkable what he’s done early in his career,” Vogel said. “It gives me nightmares trying to figure out how to stop him.”
