The Mavericks have a lot of work to do to make it back to the postseason.

Mark Cuban’s franchise hasn’t reached the NBA playoffs in either of the past two seasons. Last year, Rick Carlisle’s bunch finished with one of the worst records in the league.

But Carlisle is back along with veteran Dirk Nowitzki and second-year point guard Dennis Smith Jr.

The team also added center DeAndre Jordan via free agency and rookie Luka Doncic with a top 5 NBA draft pick.

So, can this team execute a dramatic turnaround from a sub-.500 campaign?

According to oddsmakers, it’s unlikely that the Mavericks return to the postseason.

Vegasinsider.com says that Dallas has the tenth-best odds in the Western Conference to win the NBA title this season.
