Mavericks add rookie free agent guard P.J. Dozier

Summer league play has been good for the Dallas Mavericks.

They won the Orlando tournament and reached the semifinals of the Las Vegas tournament.

They’ve also added two prospects who played in the summer league for other teams.

Rookie free agent 6-foot-6 guard P.J. Dozier signed with the Mavericks, the team announced Tuesday. Dozier played with the Los Angeles Lakers’ summer league team in Las Vegas.

Last month, the Mavericks signed former Colorado State guard Gian Clavell, who they saw play with Miami during the summer league tournaments.

Dozier wasn’t selected in the 2017 NBA Draft after averaging 13.9 points and 4.8 rebounds as a sophomore at South Carolina.

During the Gamecocks’ surprising NCAA Tournament run, Dozier averaged 15.6 points and 4.8 rebounds along with 2.4 assists as South Carolina reached the Final Four.
