Watch: Denny Hamlin exits Würth 400 after car catches on fire
Denny Hamlin was forced to exit the Würth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway early Sunday after his No. 11 car caught fire during the NASCAR race.
Flames shot out from underneath Hamlin’s car after he tried to recycle his car’s engines after losing power, but he wasn’t injured in the crash and could be heard joking on his radio after the incident, which was the Würth 400’s second caution of the day.
Few drivers have had more success than Hamlin at Texas Motor Speedway, with the Florida native tied for second in all-time wins at the venue, trailing only Jimmie Johnson.
Coming into the day, Hamlin had been having one of the best seasons of any driver to date, ranking in third place in NASCAR Cup Series standings, trailing only William Byron and Kyle Larson.
