For a day, Mayor Mattie Parker renames Fort Worth to recognize NASCAR race

The City of Fort Worth will temporarily get a new name after a proclamation made by Mayor Mattie Parker on Friday.

The proclamation will change the name of the city to Fort Würth in honor of Sunday’s Würth 400 a NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

The race is part of a triple header at the speedway, which also includes a NASCAR Craftsman Truck series and Xfinity series.

In a press release announcing the proclamation, Texas Motor Speedway executive vice president and general manager Mark Faber called the proclamation special and indicative of the relationship between the city and the speedway.

“It’s truly special to see the City of Fort Worth recognize the significance of race day by officially becoming ‘Fort Würth’ on May 4, 2025,” said Faber, “This is a powerful tribute to our great partnership with Würth and a moment we’re incredibly proud of...The support from the city is unmatched, and it only fuels our excitement as we get ready to bring NASCAR to this incredible community. Our entire team is eager to deliver a spectacular Würth 400 weekend and create memories that fans will carry with them for years to come.”
