Colonial is going with no fans. But what about Texas Motor Speedway’s races in June?
The PGA Tour announced plans to restart its season with the Charles Schwab Challenge the week of a June 8 ... with no fans.
Texas Motor Speedway is scheduled to host its summer race weekend with a NASCAR truck race on June 5 and an IndyCar race on June 6 ... with fans.
“We are planning to race at Texas Motor Speedway as scheduled and in front of fans,” IndyCar said in a statement to the Star-Telegyam. “We are in close contact with our event promoter and continue to monitor the situation closely.”
TMS president Eddie Gossage has said the track would not host the races if fans were not permitted.
TMS had its opening race weekend — a NASCAR tripleheader — scheduled for last month postponed amid the coronavirus pandemic. A makeup date has not been announced yet.
The track laid off one-third of its staff because of the pandemic earlier this week.
