Texas Rangers

Survey finds Texas Rangers fans often exit games early. Why?

A survey found the fans of all 30 Major League Baseball teams who were most likely to leave a ballgame early. Where did Texas Rangers fans land?

The survey asked 4,000 fans how much long lines at ticket gates, concession stands, bathrooms and team stores impacted how long they stayed at the game. The found the majority Texas Rangers fans surveyed cited long wait times as a reason why they ditched games early.

According to the survey, 58% of Texas Rangers fans have left games early due to frustrating wait times, good for third among all 30 MLB fan bases. Fans say the waiting begins even before entering Globe Life Field, with 86% saying it takes up to 30 minutes to get in and out of Globe Life Field.

The majority of Rangers fans (74%) surveyed reveal they’ve missed up to 30 minutes of a game, including major moments like home runs, while waiting in line during a game.

Fans surveyed also had gripes with the long concession lines, with 86% saying securing food at the concession stand could take up to 30 minutes, with 14% saying up to an hour. Fans say they go as far as abandoning their food in order to catch the action due to the wait times, with 76% saying they will forgo their food and drinks to avoid missing any part of the game.

A reason for the long wait times at Texas Rangers games could be due in part to how large their stadium is. Globe Life Field can hold 40,300 people. Despite having over 100 stations where fans can buy food, multiple lots for people to park near the stadium and nearly 200 bathrooms, the ability of Globe Life Field to accommodate tens of thousands of people will inevitably induce long wait times, especially with the Rangers recent success in the second half of the season.

The Texas Rangers will return home on Monday, Aug. 4 to take on the New York Yankees.
