Texas Rangers to honor Adrián Beltré with statue on Aug. 22
The Rangers will host a statue unveiling ceremony on Aug. 22 before their game against the Cleveland Guardians for 2024 MLB Hall of Fame Inductee Adrián Beltré.
Beltré, who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2024, had a career .287 batting average and hit 477 home runs in 21 seasons. Beltré, who spent the majority of his career with the Rangers from 2011-2018, was a four-time All-Star and received MVP votes in eight seasons.
The ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Globe Life Field in front of the Northeast Entrance Plaza, where the statue will be situated. The first 20,000 fans for the game will receive a replica statue.
The Rangers also announced that they will be honoring two more former Rangers next month.
Josh Hamilton, who spent five years with the Rangers from 2008-2012 will receive his Rangers Hall of Fame Jacket on Saturday, Aug. 9, before a home game against the Philadelphia Phillies..
Hamilton hit 142 of his 200 career home runs for the Rangers. Hamilton was a 2019 Rangers Hall of Fame Inductee, a five-time All-Star, and the 2010 American League MVP after posting an MLB-leading .359 batting average across 133 games.
Korean right fielder Shin-Soo Choo, who spent seven seasons with the Rangers, will return to Arlington on Aug. 22 for the first time since 2020. Choo hit .260 with the Rangers with 114 home runs. Choo, along with Beltré will throw a ceremonial first pitch prior to the start of a three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians.
